about us....
Owner Michelle Desormeau opened The Village Tea Room in the Village of Keen in June 2009. As an employee of the original Tea Room in Keene, Michelle and daughter Sarah operate the business bringing back the nostalgic environment which existed many years ago.
The decor of the Village Tea Room is reminiscent of the original Tea Room with a small gift shop and works of local artists adorning the walls.
In its original location, the Village Tea Room was originally built in 1859 and served as the Keene Schoolhouse. The picture below is the graduating class of 1894. In 1917 using nothing but ingenuity and manpower, the building was physically moved into the Village of Keene. Since that time, the original tea room served as a Blacksmith shop, Post Office, and general store.
For several years the Village Tea Room served the area as a restaurant offering hearty meals and fresh-baked goods.
In 2010, Michelle and her daughter Sarah, moved the Tea Room operation to the city of Peterborough.
